What's Happening at the Library?

The Aberdeen Library has found a new home at 123 Exchange Street, just across the tracks from downtown and south of the Artist's League of the Sandhills.
With 4,000 square feet to work with, The Friends of the Aberdeen Library has been busy envisioning the new space, with help from UNC Chapel Hill student Emily Zimmerman. Ms. Zimmerman has a unique skill set for this project-her undergraduate degree is in architecture and she's working on her master's in library science.
The Town of Aberdeen is sure to benefit from the new community gathering space, including a children's section and outdoor reading area, complete with benches and a gazebo. Landscape gardening students from the Horticultural Department at Sandhills Community College will be submitting designs for the outdoor space.
Depending on funding, the renovation may take up to thirty months. We'll follow their progress with photos on this page. So stay tuned.
