2024 DOWNTOWN ABERDEEN COMMUNITY VISION FORUM

On Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, members of the community, Town Staff, Elected Officials and Appointed Board Members gathered together to complete a series of guided activities identifying community stakeholders, partners, assets and economic drivers.

The series of activities culminated in each participant group presenting an economic positioning statement that served as foundational guides towards crafting a final 5-year Downtown Aberdeen Economic Positioning Statement for formal review and adoption by the Town's Board of Commissioners. The final Economic Positioning Statement was adopted on November 26th, 2024:

"Nestled in the scenic Sandhills, downtown Aberdeen is the hub for unique boutique dining, shopping, and cultural experiences. Serving as the center for community engagement, downtown is the dynamic destination for leisure and learning."

This 5-year statement guided the development of  2 Transformation Strategies that serve to guide and align goals and objectives for future downtown revitalization projects:

Strategy #1: "Downtown Aberdeen is a welcoming destination for dining and shopping experiences."

Strategy #2:  "Downtown Aberdeen is the center of community and cultural engagement."

These strategies were adopted on March 25th, 2025, and now drive the Downtown Aberdeen Advisory Board's (DAAB) strategic planning activities on an annual basis, known as the Annual Plan of Work.

What you will see in the future...Downtown revitalization in ACTION!
